“Meet the Judges”

Place – PianoForte Foundation,1335 S. Michigan Ave, 2nd floor

Time – 7:00PM – 8:00 – “Meet The Judges” event (Live Streamed on YouTube)

Time – 8:00 – 9:00 – refreshments

MC – Thomas Zoells

Format:

  1. Free to all competitors and the public
  2. Competitors will get a card to ask questions of the judges – audience members will not be allowed to address the judges directly.
  3. From 8:00-9:00 competitors will be able to register, sign up for additional events (Gala Greek Awards Dinner, Prelude Playoff, Practice times, etc) and pay for additional events including their masterclass.  This will allow them extra time on Wednesday to focus on the competition.

8:00-9:00 – Registration

9:00-9:15 – Welcome

9:15-6:00 – 30 competitors from 2-round and 3-round tracks will play (Live Streamed on YouTube)

 Thursday, August 25

8:00-9:00 – Registration for late arrivals

9:00-9:15 – Welcome

9:15-6:00 – 30 competitors from 2-round and 3-round tracks will play (Live Streamed on YouTube)

PianoForte Foundation (1335 S. Michigan Ave.)

3:00-5:00 – Masterclasses on 2nd and 3rd floors

7:00 – A trip to the Art Institute of Chicago – Open to all competitors

Price to competitor – Free to Illinois residents.  Entrance fee for non-residents.  Accompanied tour

Friday, August 26

Sherwood School of Music (1312 S. Michigan Ave.)

9:00-9:15 – Welcome

9:15-5:00 – Final round of 2-round, 2nd round of 3-round competitors (Live Streamed on YouTube)

7:30 – Celebration Dinner for ALL competitors – held at Athena Greek restaurant considered to be the best Greek restaurant in Chicago.  Price – $45

Dining will be “Family Style” and includes one glass of wine, 3-different appetizers and 3-different entrees.

Saturday, August 27

PianoForte Foundation (1335 S. Michigan Ave.)

9:00-12:00 – Competitors that are no longer in the competition will meet for a donut and coffee event and play on the PianoForte stages located on the 2nd and 3rd floor.  

Sherwood School of Music (1312 S. Michigan Ave.)

*9:00-12:00 – 3-round final round (5-competitors) – $10.00 admission fee for public (Live Streamed on YouTube)

1:00-3:00 – Prelude Playoff – Open to all  – Fee for playing $15 (Live Streamed on YouTube)

Description – Competitors will play one Prelude from ANY composer (Chopin, Rachmaninoff, Scriabin, DeBussy, etc)

3:00-5:00 – Masterclass (main stage)

3:00-5:00 – Masterclass (2nd flr recital room) and (3rd flr recital room)

7:00 PM – Follow us down the street to Square One for drinks and food.  Cash bar and some food provided by PFF.
