So often competitors critique the judges more than the judges critique their playing.  So, in order for our competitors to have a chance to get to know their judges (Classical and Modern) better we are hosting a “Meet the Judges” event.

Don’t think for a minute that you will be able to sit and talk one on one to a judge!  That’s not going to happen.  But, here’s how the event will happen.

Competitors will be handed 2- 3X5 cards and a pen/pencil when they enter the event.  One card will be for a surprise drawing(s) at the end.  The other card will be for the person to ask a question to the judges.  You can either ask all the judges a question or direct your question to a particular judge.

When the event begins, Thomas Zoells, CEO PianoForte Foundation, will MC and read a chosen variety of these questions to the judges.  Competitors will not be allowed to directly engage a judge in a conversation.

It is our hope that you will learn a variety of information about your judges.  What do they look for in terms of your playing during a competition?  Have they ever been engaged in competitions themselves?  Who is their favorite composer?  All these questions you may have will help you to get to know the judges better and on a more personal level.

Be sure to come early.  After the event refreshments will be served, giving you a chance to meet your fellow competitors.

We are anticipating this event will be a huge success as there is no other amateur competition that offers such an enlightening evening.  Come, relax, and enjoy “Meet The Judges”.
