The Competition is ‘international’ in that anybody who meets the following criteria can apply:
  • You must be 30 years or over (born before August 23, 1986).
  • You must NOT be faculty members at a college/conservatory level music department
  • You must NOT derive a substantial portion of your income from performance or piano instruction.
  • You must NOT be actively pursuing a collegiate music degree.
  • Previous first place winners of the Chicago Amateur Piano Competition are not eligible to compete.
  • You may have considered a professional career at some point in your life, and may have received piano degrees from a music school. That’s fine, you’re still eligible.
You will be responsible for paying for your lodging and transportation to and from the competition.
